Twitter Down Again???

Posted by midnightcraz on May 30, 2008

Twitter wont let any of my Apps work? (Twhirl and Twitteroo) Twitter wont let them update.

Twitters Response is “The API limit is still being kept at 30 requests per hour to help us stabilize the service for everyone. Some folks will get “rate limit exceeded” error if you use API clients that request data from us at a higher rate. Please reconfigure them appropriately for the time being.

The API limit is still being kept at 30 requests per hour?’ My Twhirl is set to update every 5 min (12 times an hour) and I still get a “rate limit exceeded error”

Twhirl gets the “rate limit exceeded error” after 3 Updates and Twitteroo can’t even start because Twitter wont even let it update the first time?

Twitter is Slowly Killing Itself!!

We are still getting those “Whale Signs” saying “Twitter is Over Capacity, too many Tweets.”

How long can this go on before everyone switches to Pounce or Jaiku?

Twitter blames its users

Posted by midnightcraz on May 30, 2008

It’s so sad to watch a business make so many bad decisions like this one is doing. Right now a pretty significant part of Twitter is down. Track isn’t on. IM isn’t on. Other parts of the service are giving me tons of whale photos that say something is technically wrong.

Student ‘Twitters’ his way out of Egyptian jail

Posted by midnightcraz on April 25, 2008

James Karl Buck helped free himself from an Egyptian jail with a one-word blog post from his cell phone.

Buck, a graduate student from the University of California-Berkeley, was in Mahalla, Egypt, covering an anti-government protest when he and his translator Mohammed Maree were arrested April 10.

On his way to the police station, Buck took out his cell phone and sent a message to his friends and contacts using the micro-blogging site Twitter.

The message only had one word. “Arrested.”

Within seconds, colleagues in the United States and his blogger-friends in Egypt — the same ones who had taught him the tool only a week earlier — were alerted he was being held.

Twitter is a social-networking blog site that allows users to send status updates, or “tweets,” from cell phones, instant messaging services and Facebook, in under 140 characters.
